The band America sings about the struggles of a sister battling an addiction, but also what it’s like when they have to turn their backs on her because she doesn’t want help from anyone else—even if that means being alone in this world. The protagonist drives away after giving his sister some money and a heartfelt goodbye.
At the end of this song, we hear America’s lead singer express his fears about what could happen to her. This is truly one of our favorite songs because it sends such an important message: love your siblings even when they’re not doing so great!
